While the poor live off the trash

Image
The vulgar living style of Pakistan’s nouveau riche According to the media reports, Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan's recently installed PM, ordered an expenditure of Rs. 3.5 crores and 2 crores respectively on the renovation of the swimming pool and washrooms in the PM House. Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif, despite lamenting the poor state of Pakistan's economy, had led large official delegations to Turkey and the UAE, all paid out from the taxpayer's money.   This is not the only display of the Sharifs’ and their carpetbaggers’ ostentatious lifestyle. Nawaz Sharif, when he was the PM, often spent his weekends at his retreat in Murree. While holidaying there at the taxpayer's expense, the food for the entire prime ministerial horde was routinely helicoptered to Murree from Nawaz Sharif’s favorite food outlets in Lahore. When not spending his weekends in Murree, Sharif would fly to Lahore to play cricket at the Lahore Gymkhana Club. Not to be left behind, President Mamoon once ...

How the US blackmails the Third World leaders into submission

Image
“Absolutely not, ” is apparently a harmless remark made by the former PM Imran Khan. He was responding to a question from a reporter who asked if Pakistan would provide its airspace and military bases to the US for waging operations against the Al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban. Why did this remark jilt the US so much? There is a history of the US treatment of the Third World leaders.  Almost all these leaders were at first cultivated and recruited to serve the US interests in their respective countries. After they had outlived their utility to their paymasters, these leaders were terminated in different ways. During the Iran-Iraq War, the US provided arms to both the belligerents. This was done to weaken the regional governments and pave the way for Israel to become the dominant power in the Middle East. During the War, the US and its allies found the real fissure in the Muslim world and started exploiting it to their advantage. It is the Shia- Sunni divide. This expla...

Pakistan’s Multi-dimensional War for Survival

Kinetic war, also known as the conventional war, deals with military actions involving active warfare, including lethal force. The phrase is used to contrast conventional military force and "soft" force, including diplomacy, sanctions, and cyber warfare. The Order of battle of an armed force participating in a kinetic military operation or campaign shows the hierarchical organization, command structure, strength, disposition of personnel, and equipment of units and formations of the armed force.     Warfare, during the first quarter of the 21st Century, is transitioning fast from a kinetic to a non-kinetic dimension.  Not that the non-kinetic dimension of warfare was missing earlier. However, it is presently becoming the dominant form of fighting between the nations. The hot war will gradually become a corollary to the cold war.    However, the hot war will remain an instrument to achieve the coup de grace- the final blow on the battlefield...

The Politics of Audio-visual Leaks

Image
PM Shehbaz Sharif was catapulted to power in the wake of a controversial no-confidence – motion against the former PM Imran Khan's government. His five month rule has falsfied many myths about him, the most prominent among them about how efficient an administrater he is.  Besides the corruption charges against him and the run away inflation that his rule has plunged the country into, there are a series of audio tapes, leaked by the hidden forces, or perhaps by himself to achieve certain political ends . One such audio leak is about his role in the illegal import of electricity plants for Maryam Nawaz' son-in-law's business enterprise.  Sometime back, a Tweet  criticizing former PM Imran Khan regarding   an alleged conversation between Asif Ali Zardari and property tycoon Malik Riaz was leaked on social media. It was believed that the video was leaked by Shehbaz through Maryam's notorious dirty video network.       How  are these audio...

Should Pakistan recognize Israel ?

Image
Davos: Israeli President Isaac Herzog disclosed on Thursday, 26 May 2022 he had an "amazing experience" while meeting in Israel a mixed delegation of Pakistani expatriates from the US and a PTV employee. Herzog was speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) about the Abraham Accords, a US-backed deal brokered by Jared Kushner, former US President Donald Trump’s Jewish son-in-law.   The Abraham Accords are a series of treaties normalizing diplomatic relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, facilitated by the U.S. Administration, through Jared Kushner, between August and December 2020. In the span of five short months, these four Arab states joined Egypt and Jordan in making peace with Israel. The agreements were called "The Abraham Accords" in honor of Hazrat Abraham AS - the patriarch of the three Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.   With their characteristic duplicity, Pakistan’s Foreign...
